The “new” code phrase signaling white supremacy, KKK, white nationalism et al ain’t fooling nobody. The desperation of “Anglo Saxons” to hold on to power dependent upon oppression of and violence toward Black and Brown folks has reached another *new* low.
While we re-live the trauma of the murder of George Floyd via the Chauvin trial, the brutality and killing of unarmed Black and Brown bodies continue. Daunte Wright. Adam Toledo. In response to citizens’ right to peacefully protest, police inflict additional violence on protestors and journalists.
Clearly, the downward spiral of the United States is accelerating at a predictably fast pace. For all y’all who were looking at Biden to be some sort of “white savior,” we tried to tell you.
The reality is that 58% of white people voted for 45 who ran on a platform of white supremacy and racism. His supporters range from the “racism-is-not-a dealbreaker-for-me” to the “I’ll-die-before-I-let-white-supremacy-die” crowd.
And the 42% who voted for Biden? They range from the “pre-trump-racism-was-more-civilized” to the “I-want-to-help-but-don’t-know-how” crowd.
It’s not the HOW they lack. It’s the WHAT.
“Good” white people of today don’t have the sense of urgency needed to mobilize into action. Collectively they succumb to complacency, detachment, and feigned powerlessness. Powerlessness. Now isn’t that ironic? When have you known white folks to be powerless about anything they want?
And alas, that’s it. For them to act, they have to really WANT to end white supremacy and racism. They have to be motivated and driven. Simply put, THEY ARE NOT.
Not only is white supremacist ideology bound up in their very identity and sense of self, white supremacy is also the source of benefits and entitlements that are just too good for white people to give up…even if Black and Brown folks pay the price…with our lives.
We’ve all seen what white supremacy says and does when it feels threatened. The 42% *good* white people have also seen what white supremacy says and does when it feels threatened.
🎯 The insurrection of Jan 6 was NOT a drill.
🎯 The passing of newer voter suppression laws was NOT a drill.
🎯 The introduction of state gun laws favoring non-restrictive open carry is NOT a drill.
🎯 The formation of the America First Caucus is NOT a drill. (Yes, though it failed before it launched, white supremacist politicians have grown more emboldened to write down their racism to try and “certify” and make it “official.” They will likely attempt it again in a way that “passes” next time.)
The inaction of *good* white people is NOT an option. Was never an option.
Their inaction is even more dangerous now.

Amazingly simple and pointed article! I am increasingly grateful to learn and glean from you. Your work informs my boldness to continue on with my people disposition work. When we look at what keeps the people in “power” silent it comes down to compartmentalism of values. They made their silence and complicity a lifestyle. Prayers to you for continued strength and courage.
Thank you, Lawrence. Truth is one of the most powerful tools in our arsenal when it comes to this work. The “power” of white silence is what perpetuates white supremacy. Indifference is the close sibling of silence. MLK’s Letter from a Birmingham Jail perfectly outlined these siblings and their detriment to the racial equity and justice. I appreciate your prayers. Let’s continue to press onward. Peace and blessings. \o/ tmr
